After installing the app from the Atlassian Marketplace, you can start right away.
Available custom field types
Prime Select List (deep cascading)
Prime Short Text (validated)
Prime To-Do List
Create a new custom field
In Jira, go to Settings (⚙️) → Work items → Fields.
(Depending on your Jira Cloud navigation, this can also appear under Settings → Issues → Custom fields.)Click Create new field.
Search for one of the custom field types listed above.
Select the field type.
Enter a Name for the field (optionally a Description) and click Create.
Example:
Make the field visible (screens / request forms)
Creating a field does not automatically add it to your create/edit/view screens. To make it available to users, add it to the relevant screens (and, for Jira Service Management, request forms).
Jira (company-managed projects)
Go to Settings (⚙️) → Work items → Screens.
Open the screen(s) used by your project (Create / Edit / View).
Add the field to the screen.
Jira Service Management (portal request forms)
If you want the field to show up in the customer portal:
Open your JSM project.
Go to Project settings → Request types.
Edit the relevant request type and add the field to the form.
Configure the custom field (contexts & field configuration)
Some fields require additional configuration (mandatory), while others work with the default configuration (optional).
Go to Settings (⚙️) → Work items → Fields.
Find your custom field in the list.
Open the field’s More actions (···) menu.
Select Contexts and default value.
Create or edit contexts based on your needs (projects and issue/work item types).
Within a context, open the field’s configuration (for example Edit custom field config) to access field-specific settings (if available for the selected field type).
Notes / troubleshooting
If the field is not visible on issues:
confirm the field is added to the correct screens (Create / Edit / View)
confirm the context includes the correct project and issue type
If the field is visible but behaves unexpectedly:
review the field-specific configuration in the field’s context settings
